Extreme Green Makeover Kick-off
Maplewood’s Extreme GREEN Makeover will commence with a free Kick-Off event at the Maplewood Library on Thursday, March 18th, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
This gala affair will feature speakers, hors d’oeuvres and door prizes. A presentation will showcase stunning landscape designs featuring innovative ways to manage rainwater in the yard while enhancing the environment for people and wildlife.
The GREEN campaign strives to empower homeowners to use landscaping to enhance wildlife habitat, reduce heating and cooling costs and improve water quality while minimizing the use of water, fertilizers, and pesticides.
A series of Extreme GREEN Makeover events including gardening workshops, demonstrations, family events, and wildflower walks will take place over the course of the season and culminate in the transformation of one Maplewood front yard with a $15,000 Extreme GREEN Makeover.
Extreme GREEN Makeover events are open to all. Maplewood residents and non-residents alike are invited to learn about GREEN landscaping and will qualify for many door prizes including a $500 GREEN gift certificate. Only Maplewood residents will be eligible for the $15,000 Extreme GREEN Makeover featuring GREEN landscaping design (some eligibility restrictions apply.)
Sponsors include Maplewood Nature Center, Ramsey-Washington Metro Watershed District, Ramsey County Library, Earthworks, Café Cravings and The Friends of Maplewood Nature.
Pre-registration for the Kick-Off is recommended. To register, call Maplewood Nature Center, 651-249-2170. The first 10 registrants receive a GREEN goody bag.
