Minneapolis: Lawns to Legumes Workshop—Your Yard can Bee the Change
November 2, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Minnesota is where Great Lakes meets Great Plains. We have more shoreline than California, more boats per capita than any other state, and at least 450 species of bees. But both water quality and bee populations are both threatened by the development of natural areas into buildings, parking lots, and lawns. Your yard can help protect our wildlife and our natural resources.
By introducing native plants to your yard, you can provide precious habitat for our struggling pollinators while also reducing the amount of water that runs off your property and into your local body of water. Their beautiful blossoms share delicious, nutritious pollen and nectar with bees and butterflies, while their roots grow deep into the soil, channeling and filtering stormwater while also storing carbon and reaching water and nutrients.
