SUMMARY:Caring for a Native Garden - VLAWMO
DESCRIPTION:Join us on September 15th from 6:00-7:30pm to learn how to care for your native plantings! We will meet in person for this workshop at White Bear Town Hall. \nThis hands-on workshop led by Metro Blooms landcare experts will cover practices for keeping your native gardens thriving. Together\, we’ll talk about identifying native plants\, managing weeds\, maintenance tasks for different times of year\, and more. We’ll also jump into the garden to practice all of these things together! Bring your questions or share with us ahead of time via email if there is a specific topic you are interested in hearing about. \nThis workshop is hosted by the Vadnais Lake Area Water Management Organization. Registration fees for residents of VLAWMO will be waived. Find out if you are in the boundaries of VLAWMO here!  \nAccess Information: \n\nThis workshop will be hosted in-person\, outside at the gardens adjacent to White Bear Town Hall. We will spend time standing\, walking\, and practicing hands-on techniques in the garden.\nGloves and hand tools will be provided; you are welcome to bring your own gardening tools\, folding chairs\, kneeling pads or anything else that will make you comfortable in the space. Light snacks and water will be available.\nParking is available in the lot\, which is also adjacent to Polar Lakes Park. Restrooms are available in the park.

SUMMARY:Planting for Clean Water: Northside Residents Redevelopment Council
DESCRIPTION:Join us on September 24th from 6:00-7:30pm to learn how planting native gardens can protect clean water in your neighborhood. \nIn this workshop\, a designer from Metro Blooms Design+Build will walk through native garden projects including pollinator plantings and rain gardens\, describe what to expect in the different stages of a native garden’s lifecycle\, and cover essential maintenance tasks. Together\, we’ll get some practice with plant identification and maintenance tasks in a residential rain garden. \nThis workshop is being hosted at NRRC’s Demonstration Site for Healthy Urban Living. During the workshop\, we’ll get a chance to tour the site and see the different types of practices you could put into place to protect clean water on your own property\, including the rain garden\, native plantings\, permeable paver walkways\, and rainwater cistern. Bring your questions or share with us ahead of time via email if there is a specific topic you are interested in hearing more about! \nThis workshop is hosted by the Northside Residents Redevelopment Council in partnership with the City of Minneapolis. \nAccess Information: \n\nThis workshop will be hosted in-person at the Demonstration Site for Healthy Urban Living. Portions of the workshop will be hosted inside the finished garage and outside in the gardens around the property. We will spend time standing\, walking\, and practicing hands-on techniques in the garden.\nGloves and hand tools will be provided; you are welcome to bring your own gardening tools\, folding chairs\, kneeling pads or anything else that will make you comfortable in the space. Light snacks and water will be available.\nStreet parking is available in the neighborhood and along Girard Ave North. The nearest Metro Transit stop is at West Broadway and Fremont Ave and is serviced by bus lines 14\, 30\, 5\, and the D Line.
