Join us on August 13th from 6:00-7:30pm for an in-person Rain Garden Maintenance Workshop located at Aquila Park. \nThis hands-on workshop led by Metro Blooms landcare experts will cover practices for keeping your native plantings thriving\, and your rain gardens functioning their best. Get guidance for identifying native plants\, managing weeds\, timing for rain garden maintenance activities throughout the year\, assessing rain garden functionality and more. \nThis workshop is hosted by the City of St. Louis Park. \nAccess Information: \n\nThis workshop will be hosted in-person\, outside at the rain gardens adjacent to the Northeast parking lot near the Aquila park ball fields. We will spend time standing\, walking\, and practicing hands-on maintenance in the garden.\nGloves and hand tools will be provided; you are welcome to bring your own gardening tools\, folding chairs\, or anything else that will make you comfortable in the space. Light snacks and water will be available.\nParking may be available in the lot\, though there will also be games being played in the ball fields. Additional parking along the street is also available.\nThe nearest bus stop is at Minnetonka Blvd & Xylon Ave that is serviced by route 667.

DESCRIPTION:Join us on September 24th from 6:00-7:30pm to learn how planting native gardens can protect clean water in your neighborhood. \nIn this workshop\, a designer from Metro Blooms Design+Build will walk through native garden projects including pollinator plantings and rain gardens\, describe what to expect in the different stages of a native garden’s lifecycle\, and cover essential maintenance tasks. Together\, we’ll get some practice with plant identification and maintenance tasks in a residential rain garden. \nThis workshop is being hosted at NRRC’s Demonstration Site for Healthy Urban Living. During the workshop\, we’ll get a chance to tour the site and see the different types of practices you could put into place to protect clean water on your own property\, including the rain garden\, native plantings\, permeable paver walkways\, and rainwater cistern. Bring your questions or share with us ahead of time via email if there is a specific topic you are interested in hearing more about! \nThis workshop is hosted by the Northside Residents Redevelopment Council in partnership with the City of Minneapolis. \nAccess Information: \n\nThis workshop will be hosted in-person at the Demonstration Site for Healthy Urban Living. Portions of the workshop will be hosted inside the finished garage and outside in the gardens around the property. The workshop will cover selecting and siting native trees and shrubs\, designing a native plant garden\, pollinator-friendly maintenance practices\, and more. \nThis workshop is hosted by the City of Minneapolis in partnership with Minneapolis Community Education. You can register for this workshop through Minneapolis Community Ed starting September 2nd at 9am. \nNote: The workshop will start at 6pm and go into breakout groups after a short presentation. If you need to leave early\, you can communicate that in your small group and leave after you meet with your designer.
