What happens after I sign up as a garden tour host?

After you submit your interest form, Blue Thumb staff will review your submission and add your garden tour day location to the Lawns to Legumes Garden Tour Day map. We will then be in touch with you to share resources and tips for hosting your tour.

What Blue Thumb will provide me as a garden tour host?

Blue Thumb will email you digital promotional materials for your garden tour, including graphics and sample text for social media posts and email newsletters, as well as printable fliers and yard signs to promote your tour.

What will I need to do to promote my garden tour?

As a garden tour host, you are responsible for promoting your tour in your local area. While Blue Thumb will promote the event on a statewide level, you are responsible for using the provided promotional materials to share about event details specific to your location. Some actions you can take include posting about your tour on social media, making a Facebook event, including the event in local email newsletters, posting the event flier in your local area, and sharing about your tour by word of mouth!

What should I do during my garden tour?

Make your outdoor area a welcoming place and be prepared to share about your native planting with folks who stop by! Putting up signs to direct neighbors to your yard will help them find the right place. If you want, you could prepare handouts with more information about your garden. Some things you can talk about with others include what inspired you to start, the design and native plants included in your garden, your experience installing and maintaining your garden, what wildlife you have observed in your garden, or other topics you feel excited to share about!
