This is a native boulevard garden that gets full sun and reflective heat from the street. Some of the plants seemed to be struggling in specific spots, so I took a soil sample to the U of MN. The soil was alright, and I learned that boulevard soil is very compacted and it can be challenging for the roots to get established. I blended organic compost in and around the struggling plants, which seemed to help. In the fall I added more organic compost to the garden so the rain and snowmelt could work it in. It showed much improvement the next year.
