Gardener Comments
The area my lawn and garden were planted in had very compact dry soil and weeds had taken over. We had tried to establish grass for many years without success. My approach to removing the weeds and existing lawn started with using a trowel and hula hoe. Once the vegetation was removed, I used a push tiller to further break up the soil.
The successful growth of the pollinator lawn has been amazing! And my flowering plants have really grown!
Keeping up on weeding has been important. I will mark the plant locations this fall so the spring growth is easy to identify.
Wildlife Observed
There have been a few butterfly visitors.
