The slope part of the yard has been hard to maintain because it was hard to water and keep mulch on. Regular watering outside of peak heat times is super important. The plants did best when I let them be and grow tall before trying to get rid of unwanted plants. And so many animals beyond pollinating insects love the yard! the birds love the seeds, and the bunnies love the safe places to live.
I feel so happy just seeing the flowers and knowing this is where they flourish, I barely have to do anything to help them because they are native to the area. I feel real joy seeing how many animals and insects live because of the yard we have. One thing I learned is not to transplant something without research, I was gifted sumac before I planted our pollinator yard and did not realize how it spread and how quickly it spread.
Wildlife Observed
Many more birds and rabbits. Several different kinds of bees and wasps, and several kinds of butterflies.
