I planted native plugs in a shady spot in my backyard. Sadly, many were pulled out by squirrels, and they were so small that I could not find them to replant. However, many have also survived, and are slowly maturing in full shade. Additionally, I planted native seed in my boulevard which is full sun. This summer 2025 is the first year that I have let it grow (no longer mowing it). It looked amazing! I had to pull a lot of birdsfoot trefoil, crab grass, and some yellow sweet clover. Other than that, it is very full of blooming black eyed Susan, yarrow, purple prairie clover, and recently, sky blue aster! I saw lots of small seedlings that are not blooming yet this year, including golden Alexander. I have had many neighbors stop while they are walking past and tell me how much they love my boulevard garden. My next door neighbor collected seed from my black-eyed Susan to use in their yard. The photos attached are all from the boulevard. (I tried to upload 4 photos, but there was an error message when trying to submit, and so I was not able to upload any photos.)

Wildlife Observed

I’ve seen small birds, bees, and butterflies. I haven’t had time to observe specific species, but I do remember seeing an American goldfinch on the flowers.
