Coon Creek Watershed District (CCWD) is a special purpose unit of local government serving 107 square miles in central Anoka County including portions of Andover, Blaine, Columbus, Coon Rapids, Fridley, Ham Lake, and Spring Lake Park. CCWD was formed by citizen petition in 1959 to address the need for management, maintenance, and repairs of central Anoka County’s public ditch system. The mission of the Coon Creek Watershed District is to manage surface water and groundwater systems and contributing lands to provide for and balance the competing uses of development, drainage, flood prevention, and the protection and restoration of water quality and habitat for the benefit of our communities now and in the future.
