The Duluth-Superior area Regional Stormwater Protection Team’s mission is to protect and enhance the region’s shared water resources through stormwater pollution prevention by providing coordinated educational programs and technical assistance. RSPT is a collaboration between local Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4s), partnering agencies and organizations. Team members are committed to preventing and resolving issues of mutual concern for environmental protection on a regional watershed scale. RSPT and its members use a variety of public education and outreach approaches including setting up a display and tabling at local events, adopt-a-drain programs and art projects, school presentations and tours and public service announcements (PSAs) played on TV, at movie theaters and shared on social media. RSPT and local actors have created entertaining and persuasive Poop Fair PSAs that have garnered national attention and are available for use by others. The most recent PSA extolls the virtues of mowing less and lounging more by replacing lawn with native plants. see https://www.poopfairy.university/ for PSAs and more.
