Four Sisters Food Sovereignty
Four Sisters Food Sovereignty is a program of Native American Community Development Institute that works to bring the community together to improve healthy food access and celebrate Indigenous heritage and culture. Our program operates the Four Sisters Farmers Market and Four Sisters Urban Farm, each of which address different aspects of food sovereignty including land stewardship, healthy food access and food preparation and preservation. Through our programming we are rebuilding knowledge and practices related to food which have been disrupted by colonization.
The Four Sisters Farmers market runs Thursdays from 11-3pm from June to October and provides increased access to affordable, healthy, culturally appropriate local foods within the American Indian Cultural Corridor. We strive to celebrate Indigenous pride, health, and well-being.
The Four Sisters urban farm is located in the East Phillips neighborhood and provides community garden space as well as year round programming designed to reconnect the Indigenous and local community with traditional food ways.
