NRP was founded in 2014 with the goal of bringing a non-intensive approach to ecological restoration focused on people and the land. From Twin Cities’ roots, we have grown to become conservation partners with many national, state, and local organizations, completing habitat restoration projects throughout all Minnesota and beyond. In addition to our public lands and non-profit partners, we also help homeowners, landowners, and businesses restore native habitat and create sustainable landscapes. By promoting natural habitat and encouraging native plants, our restoration process seeks to recover soil health, improve biodiversity, and rebuild healthy, resilient ecosystems.

Our LIGHT ON THE LAND philosophy guides our land ethic and approach to restoration. We understand the need to conserve natural resources and restore native habitat without further damaging the soil and existing native communities. Therefore, we aim to conserve and restore native habitat through non-intensive restoration techniques. This means more boots on the ground work with light equipment, selective herbicide use, and minimal disruption of existing soil communities and native vegetation. When projects require the use of heavy machinery, all of our equipment has been designed to provide minimal compressive impact on the soil with industry low psi, and our operators are trained to avoid ground rutting and tearing whenever possible. This requires extra work and planning, but we believe it is worth it.
