Notes/Description:
Native, erect, herbaceous perennial that is 1-4' tall. Its showy flowers attract songbirds, hummingbirds, and butterflies. This species is easily grown in average to dry to music, well-drained soils like a sandy based or well-draining rain garden because it will tolerate poor soils and summer heat. It is also ideal for perennial borders, native plant gardens, naturalized areas and restorations of praries and savannas. An excellent butterfly plant. it may need staking if it is not supported by other tall, upright plants.
