Gardener Comments

Black topsoil w/sand, mostly rain with some supplement of well water sprinkling, many weeds-just dealing with it, many trees on the property and berry bushes for the birds. We decided to use more of a native look rather than a designed look. Each year thereafter we have added new components to the garden as well as expanding the garden
Needed to be more patient, needed to start with a smaller project, did a lot of research during the winter on cold stratification (milk jug process) for specific species of plants. Utilized the Prairie Moon Nursery web site a lot for plant selections and germination codes for each plant
Get your neighbors involved with a pollinator project of their own. Our goal is to grow a potted butterfly weed for each of our neighbors for them to plant in their yard
Future plans are to finalize the installation of our butterfly garden fall of 2024.

Wildlife Observed
