We put two raised beds in the yard. One gets full sun, the other mostly shade.
The budget allowed us to get enough plants and shrubs for two beds, instead of one. Last year the plants were all small and I just hoped they would take. This year, we have watched as the different plants flowered at different times. Currently we have several flowering and the bumble bees are all over them! It feels so good to see, to feed the bees and help our vegetable garden as well. I’m so glad we got to be involved in this grant program!! I’m a proud pollinator garden parent.
Next year I’m going to have to figure out some over crowding and also will likely get some cages or other support for the leggy and tall varieties.
