Soil type is sandy so those natives are taking their time to establish. Plus a little shadier in the summer than I had planned for. But still looking ok this year.. this is year Three. Some plants were already there like the hydrangeas. Our challenges are 1) sandy soil and 2) critters
I tried to guard the plants as best I can while still realizing our place here by the St Croix river is also home to many hungry critters..
I will probably cut back the foliage behind the fence to try and get more light to the pollinator garden, but not til fall this year.
Wildlife Observed
I have seen many types of bees, butterflies although I would love to see more monarchs than I see currently. Maybe when the liatris blooms – it is just about to bloom.
