Clay soil, always battling weed pressure being so close to a busy road. Tansy, sweet clover, birdsfoot trefoil, creeping bellflower and thistle are always getting mowed or hand pulled. Love seeing progress throughout the year(s). Patience is key. It was harder to eliminate fescue turf grass than originally thought.
There’s something different that happens every day. It’s so enjoyable seeing it throughout the season and it makes you enjoy your property that much more. It also helps with privacy. We’ve learned to enjoy the small things on a microscopic level. It’s fun to just go out and look around at all the tiny insects that call it home. From the tiny white spiders that blend in, to the ants and house flies pollinating the flowers, and even snails at night crawling up to the top of the Yarrow! It’s all been so fulfilling.
Wildlife Observed
Tons of pollinators of all types. Hummingbirds, hummingbird moths, bees, and birds. Can tell that deer visit, and we had a family of Franklin ground squirrels move on, which we’ve learned prefer tall grass prairie!
