Bemidji: Lawns to Legumes Workshop—Your Yard can Bee the Change
February 18, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Minnesota is where Great Lakes meets Great Plains. We have more shoreline than California, more boats per capita than any other state, and at least 450 species of bees. But water quality and bee populations are both threatened by the development of natural areas into buildings, parking lots, and lawns. Your yard can help protect our pollinators and so many other natural resources.
By introducing native plants to your yard, you provide precious habitat for our struggling pollinators while also reducing the amount of water that runs off your property and into the local body of water. Their beautiful blossoms share delicious, nutritious pollen and nectar with bees and butterflies, while their roots grow deep into the soil, channeling and filtering stormwater while also storing carbon and reaching water and nutrients.
This workshop is provided by Blue Thumb in partnership with Bird, Bees & Butterflies – Bemidji and the MN Board of Water and Soil Resources.
